Moving is not typically something people look forward to or have fun doing. It takes a lot of work and is often very stressful. Relocating after a natural disaster can be even more daunting. This is Mae’s story…
Mae, 66, relocated to Central Florida in September 2017 due to Hurricane Maria. Central Florida itself was still suffering the shock of two big hurricanes. Mae’s faith however was not in the weatherman or her circumstances, but in her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mae’s faith however was not in the weatherman or her circumstances, but in her Savior.
In spite of having two degrees, Mae found the job market saturated and found difficulty finding employment due to her age, a common hurdle many of our clients experience. Using her last bit of resources, Mae jumped in a taxi and showed up at Christian HELP.
Every two weeks Mae would take a taxi to Christian HELP and meet with her Care Manager to work on a focused plan for employment. On top of meeting with her Care Manager twice a month, Mae also received food for the spirit and body through prayer and the Christian HELP food pantry.
Mae recently found employment with a counseling center as a therapist. In her words, “Christian HELP provided the emotional support and prayer I needed at each visit.”
