Carlos is a political refugee from Venezuela. He, his wife, and two children relocated to central Florida. Carlos first came to Christian HELP for aid in finding a job. He was a successful manager in manufacturing in Venezuela with years of experience in operations and construction. He is very hard working and a humble Christian.
Carlos told me, “I was referred by some Venezuelan friends who knew about the importance of the job Christian HELP was doing finding jobs. I visited Ann at her office, and she invited me to the Job Fair at the fairgrounds, and then I understood the big scope you had. After some meetings with Ann, she referred me to you, and I met a friend.â€
We counseled Carlos for six months in job search tactics, using the internet, creating a resume, and polishing his interviewing skills. Carlos always followed through with all assignments and suggestions. During this period, he drove for Uber at night so his wife could work during the day and together they could care for their two children.

"I remember the day Hurricane Irma came to Orlando and I had...22 people, family, and friends who came...I had enough food to offer them thanks to you.â€
We were also able to provide food for his extended family members who moved into his apartment after evacuating from Miami and Hurricane Irma. Carlos said that “During this time I received full advice about making my resume, how to prepare interviews and food. I remember the day Hurricane Irma came & Orlando and I had to receive at my home 22 people, family, and friends who came from Miami; they received evacuation orders at their homes. I had enough food to offer them thanks to you.â€
Next, Carlos met with a construction contractor at one of our Job Fairs and started working part-time for them at night. After some time, he started working full-time and has had two pay increases since. His wife found full-time employment. They both worked hard and saved their money.

“I have good news to you and the Christian HELP Family. I bought a home, my first home in the USA, and it could be possible due to the aid and support that the Christian HELP family gave to me."
Fast forward to now and Carlos notified us that he was able to buy his first house in America. He is so proud and gracious. He sent us an email “I have good news to you and the Christian HELP Family. I bought a home, my first home in the USA, and it could be possible due to the aid and support that Ann and the Christian HELP family brought to me. I will always be grateful for your laudable action helping people like me who needed orientation. I finished this project so I will continue carrying out projects that seek to improve the quality of life of my family.†Carlos is looking for even better things.
“I continue doing the same to 'pay the bills' so with a better job, I could have time to enjoy my family and my home.â€
